Hormone study shows that aging is not optional
[Chicagoland Final Edition]

Chicago, Ill.
Now the biggest study ever done on hormone replacement therapy-- known as HRT--has screeched to a halt. Although the treatment--a combination of estrogen and progestin--relieves hot flashes and slightly decreases colorectal cancer and hip fractures, it appears to increase the occurrence of breast cancer, heart attacks, blood clots and strokes. The risks outweighed the benefits so significantly that the study had to stop, researchers said. Reproduced with permission of the copyright owner.
