Recently named chairman of Underwriters Laboratories Inc., Mr. Bottum, 68, of Winnetka, died Friday, May 24, in Muskegon, Mich. Mr. Bottum and his wife were at their vacation home in nearby Pentwater, Mich., when he suffered a heart attack and died of cerebral hemorrhaging, said his son Roger.
