His team's inability to win on the road is Exhibit A. While putting together an abysmal 4-17 record away from the FleetCenter, the Celtics have proven time and again they are energized by their offensive exploits. A few easy transition baskets and they can look like world-beaters at the other end of the court. But any kind of a scoring drought appears to break the team's spirit too easily, leading to a steady decline in intensity at the defensive end. This is unacceptable behavior for a team with postseason aspirations. A continuation of that mindset in the early stages of the second-half schedule will have the Celtics gearing for another draft lottery appearance in June. Pitino knows that.
