The House Transportation Committee chairman has drafted legislation to bar the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority from eliminating any tolls, he said yesterday.
In a separate action, two other lawmakers have filed a bill that would give unlimited access to the new Ted Williams Tunnel to residents of South Boston, East Boston and the North End.
The bills follow a Monday announcement by Transportation Secretary James J. Kerasiotes that he plans to wipe out Turnpike tolls for Western Massachusetts residents and open the Ted Williams Tunnel to general traffic on weekends.
