John Larkin Thompson was the model of the civically engaged CEO. As president and chief executive officer of the state's largest health insurer, John felt a deep responsibility, truly a calling, to help care for the civic health of the community. John saw that he had an opportunity not afforded most people to touch the lives of many people. And touch them he did.
He was assisted in his calling by extraordinary personal warmth, wit, humor and charm. John had the human touch. John could relate to everyone. He made friends easily but kept them for a lifetime.
