Making gifts no simple act

Abstract (Document Summary)

In two previous articles we have seen that gifts will not give rise to a federal tax if the gift is $3000 or less and if the recipient has the right to use and 'enjoy the gift. This $3000 "annual exclusion" cannot be exhausted, so a donor may give away as much as he wants each year without incurring a gift tax, so long as any individual donee does not receive more than $3000 for the year.
