Abstract (Document Summary)

A child who lives in the neighborhood said the dog that attacked the boy is a brown pit bull named Buster. The other pit bull kept by the family is a brown and white female named Jewel, according to the child. The child care provider reportedly has other dogs.

"The barking is horrendous," said [Joanne Marino], who added that the rest home where she works keeps the day care provider's number and often calls to complain about the pit bulls. She said the dogs are usually kept in the house when the children are playing the yard.

The boy's father, Peter Wilson of Lynn, told WCVB-TV (Ch. 5) that he was aware that she had two pit bulls, but he believed they were kept away from the children. The dogs were openly kept in the yard, behind a fence adorned with a "Beware of the Dog" sign. Neighbors said the dogs are loud and aggressive.
