Over the last two years, the Red Sox have expressed a fondness for Korean pitchers. That sentiment has paid off with the signing of Seung Jun Song, the No. 1 pick in the Korean amateur draft.

Song, 18, led Kyung Narm High School of Pusan to the national championship in a 52-team tournament. The 6-foot-1-inch, 190-pound righthander pitched nine innings of the final game, striking out 14. Song, who won three "best pitcher" awards in 1998, chose Boston over several Korean professional teams.
