Abstract (Document Summary)

Past 1 a.m., flames still shot from the buildings, even as water rained down from fire-engine ladders. Firefighters stood in knee- deep water in some spots as streets became flooded. Firefighters also perched atop a small church between two condo buildings, spraying water on the burning structures.

The blaze, which started before 11 p.m. and lasted for more than two hours, engulfed the condos, spread to nearby buildings on the 200 block of Franklin Street, and leapt to buildings on adjacent Auburn Street.
