Abstract (Document Summary)

State Representative Brian A. Joyce of Milton won a narrow victory over Boston City Councilor Maureen Feeney yesterday in their primary battle to succeed state Senator W. Paul White.

Joyce will face Republican Christopher Huban of Milton in the general election on Jan. 6. But in the heavily Democratic district -- in which no Republican has ever won -- Joyce would appear virtually assured of victory. Huban ran unopposed in the Republican primary.

With two other candidates from Boston -- City Councilor Maura A. Hennigan and Eleanor Mulloney LeCain -- Feeney was unable to make up for the thrashing she took in Milton, Randolph, Canton and Avon, even though she got 56.2 percent of the Boston vote to 6.2 percent for Joyce.
