While New England investment was steady, investment across the rest of the nation was spectacular. According to the latest Boston Globe/Price Waterhouse Venture Capital Survey, US venture investment during the quarter, including money advanced for buyouts, topped $3 billion for the first time since the survey began in 1994. Even without the buyout cash, the survey of 500 venture capital firms found 665 up-and-coming companies nationwide got $2.92 billion in venture money -- also a record.
