Fran Foley, who served as [Tom Coughlin]'s right-hand man, administrative assistant and recruiting coordinator, would be an obvious choice. When Coughlin came to BC, Foley was responsible for all organizational, administrative and logistical matters in addition to his duties as recruiting coordinator. Now that the NCAA is planning to do away with recruiting coordinators, Foley likely would be available to join Coughlin if he isn't assigned to another position at BC.
Two other candidates for Coughlin could be defensive coordinator Steve Szabo and defensive backs coach Randy Edsall. Szabo was among Coughlin's first hires at BC, and Edsall played for Coughlin when he was offensive coordinator at Syracuse.
