A joint legislative committee yesterday agreed to one of the most sweeping attempts at campaign reform in Massachusetts in a decade, overwhelmingly approving a bill that would limit their ability to raise cash from lobbyists and political action committees as well as accumulate large campaign warchests.

- Limit the amount of money that candidates could collect from PACS, ranging from a maximum of $6,000 for House members to $50,000 for gubernatorial candidates.

She said, however, that she was unhappy with [McIntyre]'s decision to send the bill to the Senate rather than the House, where the bill originated and has a large number of backers. McIntyre aid the bill was sent to the Senate since the House will be preoccupied in the next few weeks with budget-related matters.
