The sale of Computervision caps what is a long corporate history by Route 128 standards. An engineer turned manager, [Martin Allen] founded Computervision in 1968 with entrepreneur Philippe Villers, now president of Cognition Inc. of Billerica.

- Robert L. Gable, president and chief executive officer of Computervision since 1986, made $2.5 million. The former Kidde Inc. executive was brought in to turn Computervision around.

- Philip L. Read, senior vice president of Computervision since 1981, was chief operating officer from February 1981 to May 1983. The one-time General Electric executive's gain from the sale of Computervision: $1.9 million.
