That's what Francis (Bucko) [KILROY] said yesterday after he was replaced as general manager of the New England Patriots by Patrick Sullivan, his assistant in recent years.

"I would have gone for it a year ago except that I didn't want to see [PAT SULLIVAN] move into being general manager of a 2-l4 team," Kilroy said. "Even though he was ready a year ago, it wouldn't have been fair."

Kilroy said he discussed such a move as far back as the Super Bowl. The story by this reporter saying that Kilroy was going and Pat Sullivan was coming was denied by the Patriots at the time.
