Mrs. Bernays contributed articles to the Ladies Home Journal, the Old American Mercury, the Saturday Review of Literature, McCalls and other periodicals. She edited and contributed a chapter to an outline of careers for women to which 43 women in as many fields, including Eleanor Roosevelt, contributed. She also wrote a chapter for "America as Americans See It," and to "Varied Harvest," anthology of writings by Barnard College graduates. Her memoir, "A Wife is Many Women," pioneered the many books on feminism in 1955 and became a bestseller.

Mrs. Bernays was vice president of the Edward L. Bernays Foundation Inc., established by the couple in 1946 to better human relations. She was a member of Women in Communication, the National Society of Women in Journalism and Communications and received their highest honor in 1972, the National Headliner Award. She was a member of New York Newswomen Club for many years, and also was a member of Women's Conference Group of New York, past president of Women Pays Club of New York, past vice president of Lucy Stone League, and past member of Women's City Club of Boston. She was a past trustee of the Women's Infirmary of New York, of the Board of Manhattanville Project of New York, and of the South End Music School of Boston, and a past member of Radcliffe College Women's Archives Advisory Committee.
