The volume of sports information is so much that Scott Rasmussen, president and co-founder of the network, said ER already has produced more hours of radio sports than NBC, CBS, ABC and Mutual radio networks combined will produce for the entire year.
ER held the exlusive US radio rights to the National Hockey League's 1981 Stanley Cup finals, which it broadcast live. It also broadcast the Larry Holmes-Leon Spinks heavyweight championship fight live, and will provide daily reports on tennis from Wimbledon.
In the meantime, Rasmussen said ER will continue to bid for the broadcast rights to all major sports events. He noted that contracts for most major sports events come up for renegotiation by 1985.
