[Raymond N. Nelson], a former reporter for the Providence Journal-Bulletin, was manager of the newspapers' Warwick bureau in 1960 when he joined the [Claiborne Pell] campaign as press secretary. He was named administrative assistant in 1961 and served in that capacity until 1974, when he left for the job he held at the time of his death.
