[Doug Brown] is best known as a sports reporter for WEEI radio, notably as host of a nightly program during the NBA season. The audience that has listened to Boston University football games on WBUR for the last eight years and basketball games for the last three has been familiar with his play-by-play.
After graduating from BU in 1978, the Marblehead native began his career at WSAR in Fall River. Brown moved to television in 1981, when he joined Channel 27 in Worcester in 1981 as a news and sports reporter and two years later became the one-man sports department of Channel 50 in Derry, N.H. He still is host of a seasonal bowling show there, although he came home again a year ago to work part-time at WEEI.
"We never show a replay on a foul unless it is controversial," CBS' Susan Kerr explained, but the time and circumstances of the call made it controversial. A replay also might have rescued announcers Dick Stockton and Billy Cunningham from their failure to address the violation of the no-foul policy at the end of games.
