[Tom O'Brien]'s tradition has carried over to the Eagles, who sang the song last Christmas at the Music City Bowl in Nashville, and at the Aloha Bowl in Hololulu in 2000.
If he wasn't happy to be in Detroit for the Motor City Bowl, O'Brien hid his disappointment well. The coach said the team was pleased to be playing in a bowl game, period.
Pam Ward made history two years ago when she was the first woman to do play-by-play for a nationally televised college football game. She continued to make history as the first woman to do play-by-play for a college bowl game with the Motor City Bowl last year. Ward returns this year to do play-by-play on ESPN when the Eagles meet the Rockets.
