Prone to speak her mind on any controversial subject, Dr. Arditti wrote in the Globe in 2008 about what she saw as the link between "the proliferation of synthetic chemicals" in the United States "with the increased incidence of breast cancer." Dr. Arditti, a biologist, feminist, human rights activist, and a cofounder in Cambridge of the Women's Community Cancer Project, the women's bookstore New Words, and of Science for the People, died Dec. 25 of complications of the disease at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge.
