At Toussaint L'Ouverture International Airport, aid workers from the United States, Belgium, Brazil, France, and the United Na tions hurriedly unloaded supplies from cargo planes. On the busy road leading from the airport to the Grand Rue, the main boulevard in the heart of the city, a promenade of misery dragged suitcases, balanced bundles on their head, or piled into overflowing pickups, determined to keep going.
