I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER Directed by: Jim Gillespie Script: Kevin Williamson Starring: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Philippe, Freddie Prinze Jr., Johnny Galecki, Bridgette Wilson, Anne Heche, Muse Watson Playing at: Cheri; suburbs Running time: 101 minutes Rated: R (strong horror violence and language)
"I Know What You Did Last Summer" is a slicker-than-usual "Friday the 13th" rip-off, but not quite good enough, considering that it came from Kevin Williamson, who is breathing new life into the slasher genre with each life he snuffs out at his steaming word processor. In this case, the killing begins inadvertently, as four kids partying to begin the summer before they'll all scatter for college hit another kid while driving drunk. Panicking, seeing their bright lives destroyed, they dump the corpse into the nearby ocean.
