Mountain Home students in the GAPP program go through a selection process that includes writing an application, securing teacher references and parental permission, and going through an interview with Reed and Chentnik. The German students Knott's family has hosted have been from villages where students shopped in small specialized markets and traveled long distances to attend school in a large city.
