Tabitha King quits as trustee MPBC controversy grows since program

Abstract (Document Summary)

On the show, panelist Tom Hanrahan attacked King, an MPBC board member for two years. "Tabitha King is on the board of directors," he said. "Isn't that because she is married to a very rich person, but has nothing really going for herself?"

The maker of the film, Maine Public Broadcasting, is the charity that will benefit, but last-minute editing kept the disclosure from being at the beginning of the program. The propriety of this was questioned on "Media Watch." [Elizabeth Noyce] resigned as a MPBC board member shortly after the "Media Watch" broadcast.

In her letter of resignation to William Cotter of Waterville, head of the MPBC board of trustees, King expressed hope that her quitting would be a catalyst for discussion about the issues involved.
