 Abstract (Document Summary)

"From this moment forward, the Macintosh will reach more people than ever before," John Sculley, chairman and chief executive officer, told about 1,500 people during a news conference at an Apple manufacturing plant here.

Analyst Stewart Alsop, editor of PC Newsletter, said Apple has extended the Macintosh architecture at the expensive end of the market and is going after the inexpensive end, which is dominated by cheap clones of International Business Machines Corp. personal computers.
