Battaglia, a 36-year-old math teacher at Manasquan High School, visits Tim's black granite gravestone at the start of every new school year, a ritual he began after Tim's suicide three years ago. In those three years, at least 19 other students were rescued by police before they could commit suicide on the tracks, and dozens of Manasquan High School students were referred to psychiatric crisis units after showing signs of being suicidal.
