The limited perceptions of the Catholic Church which prevent people from being active members of their parishes are examined, including the notions of a lackluster liturgy, too many rules, antagonism in the church and "un-Christian" Christians. Reasons for belonging to a church, and to the Catholic Church in particular, are discussed.
