"Now get out your notebook," said Mr. Robert G. Black, "and I'll tell you what I remember about taxis back in those days. I had the for Willys-Overland cars in this section, and I bought my first car in 1914. I never did run a regular commercial taxi like Charlie Pickard did, but sometimes I would make trips when I was asked. Pickard may have had his taxi as far back as 1910."
