COVINGTON--Recently, while en route to a speaking engagement, I rode for about a mile with three women I had never seen before. Within those 10 or 15 minutes I learned that one of them has rheumatoid arthritis, the second a duodenal ulcer and the third is suffering from angina pectoris. Now each of those conditions is a serious thing and I expressed my sincere sympathy.' For all that you and I know, we may have any one or two of them, and we'd be justly offended if anyone suggested that they were a laughing matter. But since I could do nothing toward alleviating those conditions I should probably not have given it a second thought or considered it odd at all if I hadn't heard two Europeans...
