He will be succeeded by Jay Leno, who begins Monday as the new Tonight Show host. USA TODAY asked readers if they have any special thoughts or memories of The Tonight Show.

There goes Johnny! I frequently watch him and I'll miss him every night. Although I like Jay Leno and think he's got his own style of humor, Johnny is an institution and a class act. My favorite shows have been with Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters.
