The NBA and the union agreed in 1983 to a salary cap - a maximum each team could spend on salaries - based on defined gross revenues. Players receive 53% of that revenue as salaries and benefits.
NBA general counsel Gary Bettman said the matter is ``simply an accounting dispute. I'm sure that it will be satisfactorily resolved.''
