The only cloud on [Andre Agassi]'s horizon is the threat of a ban from one or more of next year's grand slam tournaments for pulling out of next month's $6 million Grand Slam Cup in Munich. The International Tennis Federation has given Agassi until Sunday to explain his withdrawal.
Agassi - whose ability to win a big match has been questioned since his U.S. Open blowout by [Pete Sampras] - said Sunday's win, on the heels of his semifinal victory against No. 2 Boris Becker, provided an emotional balance to the two grand slam defeats.
Agassi, 20, of Las Vegas, defeated No. 1 Stefan Edberg of Sweden 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5, 6-2 in Sunday's final in 3 hours, 15 minutes.
