This is the fourth year dermatologists have offered the free exams in an effort to detect skin cancers and educate the public about the skin cancer epidemic.
In addition to yearly screenings, doctors recommend monthly self-exams to detect skin cancer.
``Most people don't pay attention to their skin unless they have acne or warts,'' says Ruth G. Sikes of the American Academy of Dermatology. ``They don't notice lesions that could be skin cancer, even though they're easily detected.''
