Davidson has learned that there's a lot more to hosting a game show than he had realized. "You're running a game, and you can't reveal the answers too soon," he says. "You have to build up the suspense. [Bob Barker]'s gone from an idol to game show god. He's really got a gift."
The Young and the Restless' Doug Davidson stands in for Barker as host of the new show, with three new women, including a former Playboy playmate, a model from a George Michael video and an actress who has posed for Jet, in for Janice Pennington, Dian Parkinson and Holly Hallstrom. The Arsenio Hall Show's former announcer, Burton Richardson, is the guy yelling, "Come on down!"
The main focus is on Davidson, who got the job after appearing on a celebrity version of Family Feud, in which the Y&R gang competed against The Price Is Right. Afterward, Barker suggested to Jonathan Goodson, the CEO of Mark Goodson Productions, that Davidson would make a good game show host. A year later, he is giving away cars.
