Abstract (Document Summary)

Interest rates on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages rose above 7% this week for the first time in nine months, but real estate agents say home sales are still soaring.

Thirty-year mortgages rose to 7.06%, from 6.89% last week, Freddie Mac says. That puts the average monthly payment on a $100,000 loan at $665.

"For most people, that is still a bargain," says Sharon Millett, of Millett, Potvin Realty in Auburn, Maine.
