The study of 49,000 kids 18 and under, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that children without health insurance were far less likely to have regular care. For example, 22% of those who lacked health insurance failed to get at least one of the following over the one year period of the study: needed medical care, dental care, medications, eyeglasses or mental health care. Only 6% of insured kids went without such services, the study found.
