[Gordon Smith] reported raising $5.1 million as of June 30, compared to the approximately $1 million raised by his challenger, Democratic Secretary of State Bill Bradbury. Smith reported spending $2.7 million, leaving him with $2.4 million on hand. Bradbury had $476,633 on hand.

Smith aides noted that most of Smith's contributions came from Oregon residents, which they said shows broad support for the first- term Republican.
